Our COVID-19 journey – looking forward to the future

Posted: Friday 5th March 2021

The last year has been a challenging time for all of us and at TST our main priority has always been to protect our people. We have extended our COVID-19 practices in the workplace by introducing the wearing of facemasks, lateral flow testing, working from home on a rotation basis and giving regular updates to everyone keeping them informed on all COVID-19 related news.

Our Performance through our People programme has been an integral part of the last 12 months and we have encouraged everyone to take part in various activities and improvements. We supported a number of Awareness Days for Mental Health, Men’s Health, Better Health for All and Cancer Research.  have also been able to raise funds for Charity by adapting our use of video conferencing and socially distanced events such as Wear it Pink Day – £165, Poppy Appeal £103 and during December we held 3 x Festive Fridays in aid of our local Food Bank, we collected food and toiletry items and £400 towards much needed supplies.  A great achievement by all at TST.

Our employee engagement has been really positive in spite of lockdowns and restrictions. For Civil Aviation Day we celebrated by holding a Paper Plane Challenge. We had some fantastic results with the overall winner throwing a Paper Plane a distance of 52.1 feet!

We asked everyone to take part in a Yellow Belt Improvement Project to look at the ways in which we reduce costs and so far, we have successfully worked together to get 25 projects completed giving us substantial cost savings.

It is encouraging and heartening to know that as a company, together we have supported each other and the wider community through some tough times.  We are all looking forward to the challenges ahead and a much better future.
